How is Diego Madritsch doing after his shoulder injuries?
SCR Altach signed 20‑year‑old Diego Madritsch from SV Ried in the summer of 2024. After two shoulder surgeries he now feels top‑fit, having spent four weeks on holiday working on his weak points. Pre‑season training has already started and he is highly motivated to play regularly again.
What did he say about the past two years in the "Ländle"?
Madritsch recalled that in his first match he immediately injured his left shoulder, and shortly after suffered the same problem with his right shoulder. Despite those setbacks he was in the squad at the end of the season, even featuring in the cup final against LASK. He stresses that the experience gained in the Regionalliga helped him become mentally stronger.
Was the move to Altach a mistake?
"I don't regret the move," Madritsch explains. Although the sporting results have not yet met his expectations, he believes the transfer will benefit his long‑term career. He highlights that young players need match practice – something he has mostly gathered in the Regionalliga.
What is SCR Altach's current situation?
The club currently sits 8th in the Austrian Bundesliga with 29 points from 22 games (7 W, 8 D, 7 L). This season they have scored 22 goals and conceded 23, a –1 goal difference. Their latest result was a 2‑0 win over Ried on 16 May 2026. The last five matches ended 1 W, 2 D, 2 L (WDDLL). The next home fixture is on 18 July 2026 against Grasshoppers.
What are his goals for the future?
Madritsch says his focus is clear: earn regular Bundesliga minutes and improve his technical skills. He wants not only to return but to become a permanent starter. "I'm football‑crazy and get to live my dream as a professional," he says. The young forward hopes the upcoming season will give him the chance to fully unleash his potential.
